Logistics need to be arranged, helicopters booked, fuel barged and flown into place. Exploring deep in the most remote regions of the Coast Range is no easy feat. As a result, we need to secure commitments for our guests well in advance of your planned trip.
Deposits
A deposit of 50% is required to be paid within 21 days of confirmation of your reservation. Payment of the balance is due 90 days prior to the commencement of your trip. Reservations may be cancelled by Whitemantle without notice if full payment has not been received as and when due.
If it becomes necessary for you to cancel your reservation, we require notification by email to [email protected]. Cancellations will only be recognized once received by operations. Cancelation requests sent directly to guides in lieu of the office will not be recognized as guides are often in the field and unable to relay messages. Guests cancelling less than 90 days prior to the commencement of your trip will be required to pay the package price in full, which amount is NON-REFUNDABLE. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if a cancelled reservation is subsequently re-sold to another group that assumes the contractual obligations in full, you will be refunded the costs of your trip subject to a change of reservation fee of 10%.
Waiver and Release of Liability
Prior to confirming any bookings we will require that each guest has agreed to the terms of the Release of Liability, Waiver of Liability and Assumption of Risks Agreement, each of which will be required to be completed in person at or prior to, your arrival the lodge.
Copies of this agreement for your review are available by clicking here for the Release Agreement.
Helicopter Hours, Guarantees and Credits
Each group of guests is allotted an amount of helicopter hours which is included in the cost of their heli-skiing package (“Included Hours”). In the case of individual and semi-private participants, the Included Hours are allocated to your group of four skiers and in the case of private bookings, the Included Hours are allocated to the private group as a whole.
We guarantee that each group will have the opportunity to use not less than 60% of their Included Hours during their trip (“Minimum Hours”). If you are unable to use your Minimum Hours due to operational factors such as an inability to fly due to poor weather or mechanical breakdown, we will provide you with a credit. The credit amount is calculated based on the difference between the Minimum Hours and the hours that your group used during your trip, all multiplied by the cost we charge to purchase additional helicopter hours at the time of your trip, and will be calculated using increments of 15 minutes. Credits will be divided equally among the members of the relevant group.
No credit will be given, in whole or in part, for unused Minimum Hours, resulting from late arrival, early departure, poor physical fitness, insufficient skiing/boarding ability, illness or injury, weather or if you choose not to participate in any activity or to return to the lodge early. Included Hours can be used however your group elects, and hours applied by members of the group to activities (such as access to and from the lodge or in connection with heli-accessed fishing) will count towards the Included Hours of the group.
Should you be eligible, you may apply your refund towards any charges for incidentals at the lodge or on a future trip with Whitemantle or Bute Inlet Lodge.
Insurance
We highly recommend that guests obtain insurance, including evacuation insurance, medical insurance (please ensure that the insurer provides coverage for heli skiing in Canada) and Trip Interruption/Cancellation Insurance.
Evacuation insurance may be purchased with Whitemantle on booking at a cost of $100 per person. This will cover the cost of helicopter evacuation from the field in case of injury while heli-skiing.
