Safety &
Equipment
Your safety is our primary concern. There’s no avoiding it, heli-skiing can be a dangerous activity (see our waiver here), and Whitemantle operates from helicopters, in a winter environment, in a remote area, among some of BC’s biggest mountains. All of that is part of the adventure – it is unlike anywhere else you’ve ever skied.
We do our best to mitigate the risk as much as we’re able. We work exclusively with certified ACMG guides and have extensive safety plans and procedures in place to help keep our guests, guides and staff safe at all times during your trip.
Your trip will start with a safety briefing including avalanche rescue and beacon training, as well as instructions of how to stay safe when moving around the helicopters.
The two biggest contributions that guests can make towards a safe and enjoyable trip are to follow the instructions of our guides and staff and to arrive at the Lodge fit, strong and healthy.
Equipment
You’ll be provided with all of the safety equipment that you’ll need while skiing with us, including avalanche air bags, avalanche beacons, a shovel and probe.
Fitness
Arriving fit and healthy can make a huge difference to how much you can get out of a trip and being physically tired can be a contributing factor to injuries. Our runs are long, the snow deep and our helicopters will get you to the top for your next powder lap faster than your local hill with its powder day lift lines and chair lifts.
